Iris japonica (Syaga)

You will find white Iris japonica with yellow and purple designs on their petals at the foot of cherry blossom trees.

Canola flower(Nanohana)

Grow on the banks of the moat north of the jetty. The seeds are used to make Canola oil.

Oriental Paper-bush (Mitsumata)

The name “mitsumata” means “tri-furcation” and is derived from the shape of the branches. The bark of this tree has been used to make Japanese banknotes. You can find these trees near the southern entrance to the Chidorigafuchi Ryokudo (Greenway).

Christmas Rose

The leaves and flowers are carried directly on short stalks. The flowers come in different colours, such as purple, pale green-yellow, etc. Grow in the sunny area on the south side of the volunteers’ tent.

Chinese violet cress (Murasaki Hanana)

Botanical name is Orychophragmus violaceus. Its blue-purple flower colour stands out against the pale pink cherry blossom flowers.

Nishiki Magnolia (Nishiki Mokuren)

Blooms with large deep pink-purple flowers. You can find this at the south side of the Indian Embassy.
